UW Oshkosh Student Riot — April 28, 1995

I recorded this footage along Algoma Boulevard as students faced off with police. I later sold this footage to WFRV-TV, the CBS station in Green Bay, Wis.

From a report in the Advance-Titan:

UW-Oshkosh students upset with the legal drinking age of 21 took their anger to the streets early Friday morning, April 28, 1995.

Police took four busloads of students to jail for suspected underage drinking after the riot caused an estimated $100,000 in damages from Algoma Boulevard to Main Street.

The riot began after police busted a party at Sigma Pi fraternity on Amherst Avenue around 8 p.m. that night.
